These Victorian coin purses were very small. If you have ever seen a sovereign or a half sovereign you will understand why. As small as the coins were, they had quite a bit of value – as opposed to our coins today. The metal on top of this purse is clean and in good shape. No rust. It is not sterling. The underneath has the star pattern made of small cut steel pieces. This design was the most common on these type of purses. This is all intact. A delightful little piece of history. What lovely lady used this?
