Ivory & Gold Toothpick Box Early 1800’s. Has a small ornamental piece of hair beneath domed glass in center top. It was engraved in 1846 and apparently presented to someone then eighty years old. Could be older than the date inscribed. The mirror inside lid has lost some foil backing which is not that unusual when considering the age. The case itself is in excellent condition. Not that anxious about contemplating the eighty year old picking at teeth but it is an exceptional and rare item in terrific shape except for the mirror. In the enlarged photo the 9K gold rim looks discolored. It is not. That is just the photo.
